Listening to the CD One More Time…

I am listening to The RabunCo.com New Music Compilation one more time before sending it off to be duplicated, and the covers printed, and it all assembled into a CD. This represents a lot of work! You can hear all the effort, time, and the love each artist put into each song.

I changed the name of the CD, you notice. There was some confusion over calling it a sampler. The right word in modern usage is Compilation. It represents fifteen original songs with deep ties to our rich, vibrant music community.

I changed the art too. I tried to listen to a few people’s advice about the art, but I kept feeling like all the different art for the cover made not not cohesive. Keep it simple. So I decided to use one local photographer for the cover art. Peter McIntosh. It represent Rabun County very well.

The other local artists, Ethan Phillips and Mark Holloway were so gracious to offer art. I am going to take them up on this, and let them each design the next two upcoming Volumes of this CD. Ethan’s owl painting is a real eye-catcher, and I look forward to this being the cover for Volume 2, plus more of his art if he will.

Also I had to leave people out! This one got full, and some were not ready! More new on Volume 2 next week!

I have not been this excited about a music CD since the 90’s! I found a crazy little music scene in rural, mountainous North Georgia. There are deep music roots here. This CD covers a huge gamut

So it is going off to the CD manufacturers this weekend. It will take about 3 weeks to get it back. I will release the artwork as we get closer. Also, we will putting something together as a release part about mid-summer. Also, getting info together on all the bands, production notes, any I can get to put on the website, to share all these great musicians, singers, and songwriters in, and connected to our county.

There is no meaning to the order, except to kind of evenly shuffle the styles to it flows. There is no meaning to the order other than that. I tried to make it flow. If I messed up, sorry. But I was surprised how many rock songs there were. My task seemed to me to be to mix the rock songs in evenly with the more traditional sounding, and the New-Country.

I love the way it flows! Hopefully people will listen to all of it. If not, maybe once or twice, and then follow these to their sites, and so on. Maybe a kind of a discovery thing will happen? It sure has for me!
